Prerequisites:

Prerequisite(s): ENGR 3213 with "D" or better and MATH 2094 with "D" or better

Description:

Analysis of strength and rigidity of mechnical and structural components in tension, shear, torsion, compressions, buckling, fatigue, and bending by calculus, differential equations and finite element methods of calculation involving manual, computer and CAD techniques. Laboratory experience in standard mechanical property tests, strain gage tests and computer simulation. Components analyzed will involve simple beams, shafts, bars, tanks and complex mechanical or structural frames or surfaces.
