Description:
A lecture and lab-based course that covers the study
of health care delivery and new trends of development in the management and
processing of health information with emphasis on project management and the
preparation of management documents.
Topics include computerized medical record systems, consulting in
medical records, cancer registries, financing health care, and record keeping
practices for ambulatory care centers, long term care centers, and mental
health care centers. Preparation for
taking the RHIT exam is integrated throughout the course, during which students
complete practice exams in HIM content areas and interact with the instructor
to receive clarification about concepts and study techniques. This course should be taken in the student's
last semester of study.
