The Lady Pioneers softball team is aiming for a spot in the Region III Division III Tournament year after year. Alfred was ranked in the top five in the country in 2007 and has qualified for the Regional Tournament three times in the past nine seasons.
In 2009, the Lady Pioneers won three more games than in 2008 and finished 13-23. One player was named All-WNYAC.

The Alfred State College softball left the tying run on base in the 7th inning in a 5-3 loss to Cumberland (NJ) County College and then were shutout 8-0 by Northampton (PA) CC in their second game. The Lady Pioneers are now 1-5 at Snowbird Softball in Myrtle Beach, SC.
The Alfred State College softball team defeated Genesee CC 10-2 and fell 11-1 to Herkimer CCC as they opened up their 2010 season in Myrtle Beach, SC.
