During his tenure at Alfred State, Gary Moore has developed and maintained one of the best Track and Field programs in the nation.
In the 2007-08 season the men's team won the Indoor Regional Championship and finished as Regional runner-up in the outdoor season. At Outdoor Nationals, the men's team finished 6th. The women finished 4th in Region III during the indoor season and 5th in the outdoor season but put together a strong showing at Outdoor Nationals and finished 5th.
Other top seasons include: The men’s outdoor team was National Champion in 2000, National Runner-Ups in 2001 and 2002, and finished 5th in 2004 and 2006. The women’s outdoor team won the National Championship in 2007, finished 3rd at Nationals in 2000 and in 2003, and 4th in 2004. The women’s indoor team won the Region III Championship in 2004 while the men won the Region III Championship in 2002, 2006, and 2007 and was 2nd in the 2006.
Coach Moore has done this while competing in one of the toughest regions in the country.
Moore earned an Associate Degree from Alfred State College, a Bachelor Degree from SUNY Brockport, and a Masters Degree from Southern Mississippi. While at Brockport, Moore participated in the NCAA National Track and Field Championships and currently still participates in road races along with coaching the Alfred-Almond Track Club.
Numerous members of Moore’s team have received accolades and have moved on to NCAA competition.
Moore lives in Geneseo with his wife Mary.
