Campus Library

Our libraries, located on the Alfred and Wellsville campuses, include a variety of formats, subject specific indexes and databases that help students with applied-learning. Students can also borrow from virtually any library in the United States through Interlibrary Loan. Online access to both libraries is available via the Hinkle Library web page.

Alfred Campus Library

The Walter C. Hinkle Memorial Library houses about 58,000 volumes, more than 200 current journal titles and 13 newspaper subscriptions. It also offers more than 5,500 full text periodicals and newspapers via online indexes. The librarians provide in-person and classroom instruction on research techniques and sources. Students can study, relax and eat in the Library's Hard Drive Café, complete with wireless connectivity.

The Hinkle Library also houses the nationally-known Jean B. Lang Western New York Historical Collection, a unique collection of historical and genealogical materials on the history and culture of this part of New York State.

Wellsville Campus Library

This library houses approximately 3,500 volumes, about 40 current journal titles and four daily newspapers. The library contains an extensive collection of automotive manuals in print and microfiche, as well as materials on film, videocassette, slide and filmstrip.

Community and Online Access

Both the Hinkle Library and the Wellsville branch library are handicapped accessible and are open to the public at no charge.

Many of the library's online sources are available to the campus community through SUNYConnect, a joint initiative of the SUNY Provost's Office of Library and Information Services and the libraries of the 64 SUNY campuses. Currently over 4,000 full text journals are available through SUNYConnect to every SUNY student.
