Represent your hall at Student Senate meetings. Bring back information on campus events. Work with resident assistants to produce hall events and campus activities. Benefits include: leadership experience, experience working with a large group of students, involvement in recommendations on how to spend the Senate money.
Our mission is to enhance the commuter student experience. We meet bi-weekly to provide feedback to the college, plan activities, and discuss issues. Our membership includes students of all ages. View the Commuter Council Web site.
Getting InvolvedAn important part of college life is helping others. The Civic Engagement Activism Headquarters (CEAH), part of the Student Activities Office, is ready to connect you with worthwhile community service activities.
Being a member of something gives a sense of belonging and a stronger identification with the College. Membership also increases success in the classroom. The problem is that not everyone wants to join an existing group. Maybe you have an interest in an area that's new. Well, step forward and bring your idea.
To become a recognized campus organization, just meet with the Director of Student Activities and discuss the concept behind the club. Note: to be a Senate-funded organization, clubs must be open and of interest to all students and complete a separate process with the Associate Vice President for Student Life.
If initially approved, you'll need to find a faculty/staff adviser and develop a constitution. Next, choose club officers, including a treasurer if you'll seek funding from the Student Senate.
As long as student interest supports a concept, the Office of Student Activities will work to make that concept a reality.
