Three Alfred State College surveying engineering technology students were recently recognized by the U.S. Department of the Interior-Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Santa Fe Office for their exemplary work and willingness to learn while filling surveying internship requirements through that entity.

ASC Receives $10,000 Donation From Praxair, Inc.

The Computerized Design and Manufacturing Department at Alfred State College's School of Applied Technology, Wellsville, was the recipient recently of a $10,000 donation from Praxair, Inc., Tonawanda, to be used for student scholarships beginning in fall 2008.

Alfred State College Installs PV Panels to Power Applied Technology Buildings

Alfred State College is leading the way in sustainable energy use with its new 5100 watt (5.1 KW) photovoltaic grid intertie system, which is now powering the library and administration building of the School of Applied Technology in Wellsville. Since the system mimics one a homeowner would use, these buildings were chosen because they best represent a residential home in terms of a year's electrical usage.

Alfred State College Announces New 4-Year Program in Computer Security

Alfred State College officials are pleased to announce the approval by SUNY (State University of New York) and the NY State Education Department of a new bachelor of technology (BTech) program in computer security, Information Security and Assurance, which will begin accepting students for the spring 2009 semester.

Students enrolled in the Culinary Arts programs at the School of Applied Technology of Alfred State College will prepare a holiday buffet on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5-7 p.m. in the student dining hall of the Culinary Arts Building on the Wellsville campus. Cost is $15 (all inclusive) per person.

ASC Student Senate Supports Peer Tutoring

Alfred State College's Peer Tutoring Program was the recipient recently of a check for $3,000, the first installment of a $6,000 commitment made by the ASC Student Senate, to help defray the cost of the program's operation.
