    The Alfred State College wrestling team lost a hard fought WNYAC match to Jamestown CC 28-15 on Thursday evening.  The Pioneers are now 0-2 in dual matches thus far in the early going of the season.  read more »

    The Alfred State College wrestling team dropped a close WNYAC match 21-19 at Mercyhurst North East on Thursday.  The match was the first dual match for both teams on the season.  read more »
  • Wrestlers Compete at UB

    The Alfred State College wrestling team opened up their 2008-09 campaign at the University of Buffalo Open on Sunday.  Eight Pioneers competed in the non team scoring tournament that featured Division I schools, Ohio State, Edinboro, Rutgers, Duquesne, and Binghamton.  read more »
  • Eight Pioneers Earn Academic All-American Honors

    Eight Alfred State College athletes have earned NJCAA Academic All-Americans for excellence in the classroom.  Cal Ayers (Letchworth), Keenan Hall (Monticello), Kaila Smith (Alfred Almond), Dustin Falkner (Letchworth), and Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA) were all named Distinguished Academica All-Americans while Kevin Underhill (Somers), Paul Farrell (St. Francis), and Sarah Palmiter (Alfred Almond) were named All-American.  read more »
  • Trio of Pioneers receive Chancellor's Award

    Three Alfred State College athletes have been awarded the SUNY Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award for excellence academically and athletically.  Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA), Zak Williamson (Rocky Point), and Keenan Hall (Monticello) were honored by SUNY and Chancellor Dr. John B.   • Athletic Department hands out End of Year Awards

  • Longenecker Racks up Awards

    Longenecker finished the season with a 20-4 record.  He won the Region III Championship at 133 lbs. to earn a spot at the National Championships.  At the Nationals, he advanced to the semifinals before falling in a tough match but rebounded to earn 5th place and become the A-State's 27th all-time NJCAA All-American.   read more »
  • Longenecker named Region Athlete of the Week

    Alfred State College wrestler Gallaway Longenekcer (Manheim, PA) has been named the Region III male athlete of the week.  This is the second straight week that an Alfred male athlete has been honored (Andy Omoregie - Indoor Track & Field).  read more »
  • Longenecker finishes 5th

    Alfred State College sophomore wrestler Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA) finished 5th and earned All-American status (133 lb. weight class) at the NJCAA National Championships.  Longenecker is the 27th All-American in A-State history and the first wrestler at 133 lbs. to earn All-American since Troy Almeter finished 4th in 1987.

  • Brackets announced for NJCAA Wrestling Championships

    The brackets for the 2008 NJCAA Wrestling National Championships have been announced.  Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA), Cory Merchant (Cobleskill-Richmondville), and Andy Wright (Hilton) will represent Alfred State College in the event to be held February 22 & 23 in Rochester, MN.  read more »
