New York State Library
Here

To
apply for a card
To remotely access the electronic resources of the New York State
Library, e-mail nyslcirc [at] mail [dot] nysed [dot] gov
and ask for a state employee borrower's card. An application will be mailed
or e-mailed to you. Fax or mail the application back with a photocopied pay stub
and a copy of your Alfred State College ID. Note that a more limited selection
of databases is available to NYS residents.

To
apply for a card
NY residents (including college students attending school
in the state) are eligible for a card that will allow remote access to NYPL databases.
