Library Anniversary Book Fund

The Environment
These are exciting times at Alfred State! As we evolve into an institution that is offering more four-year programs, we are challenged to meet the needs of our students and faculty. Teaching and learning require excellent library resources.book_brigade

In order to purchase books and periodicals, gain access to electronic indexes and databases, and build the partnerships necessary for first-rate library service, we must rely on help from college alumni and friends. Private support is now an essential element of our goal of expanding excellence at ASC.

The Challenge
Information is expanding rapidly. Price increases for library materials far exceed the general rate of inflation. Continual investments in technology are necessary to access now forms of information. The ASC Library is working to seek solutions to these challenges by purchasing materials in new formats, developing innovative methods of managing information, and promoting cooperative sharing of resources.

How You Can Help
Hinkle Library recently marked its 40th anniversary. In the late fall of 1965, hundreds of students took part in a marathon "book brigade" that on a single day moved more than 20,000 volumes from the old library on the Alfred University campus to the new facility a half-mile across the valley.
